As soon as Virginie Sevran, the chief inspector of the Judiciary Police Regional Department of Versailles, has caught a serial rapist, she is called on an unusual crime-scene. She leads the investigation with her friend and colleague Pierre Biolet, who has just joined her team.
They inspect the place closely together, and discover the body of Victor Bardier, a jeweler of the Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris. His mutilated body was found in a bloodbath by the cleaning lady.
Meanwhile, his wife is nowhere to be found...
