ORDINARY MORNING

Marjorie Tixier

The struggle of a woman, a family, an entire community who learn how to survive a tragedy and to recover.

Friday mornings are special for Laurence. A moment of peace and freedom in her busy daily life: her work as a nurse in the hospital, the education of her two daughters, the attention she gives to her sick father and to her husband. Every Friday morning at exactly nine o'clock, Laurence puts on her sneakers and goes running in the forest. She wouldn't miss this ritual for the world. For an hour, she can dream of the places she's never been to, imagine the words she should say to her husband so he can look at her again or to her old nosy neighbour. That Friday, Laurence does not come back at ten o'clock sharp. With an hour's delay, she eventually reappears. But she's not the same, and her life has changed. After the shock will come the time for reconstruction. Laurence will have to go deep inside herself, discover new forces, relearn to trust others. To finally believe in a new morning, and in starting over.

Born in 1977, Marjorie Tixier lives in Savoie. A professor of modern literature, she also writes poetry and draws her inspiration from music, painting and travel.
Ordinary morning is her first novel.
