Islanova

Jérôme CAMUT & Nathalie Hug

Does a fight stop being legitimate when violence is the only resort ?

When Julian and Wanda discover their children's relationship, Leny, 18 and Charlie, 16 run away from home. Even though they're not related, Leny being Wanda's son and Charlie, Julian's daughter, the parents disapprove of their love story within their reconstituted family. The teenagers take refuge on the Oléron Island where they join a Zone to Defend, intended to prevent the expansion of a luxurious hotel complex. There, wishful dreamers live together with eco-terrorists who believe that violence is the only way to be heard.
Enthralled by their idealism, Charlie wants to join them and fight. Leny is more skeptical, especially since he discovered a body on the territory. Worried about their children, Julian and Wanda try to save them. But isn't it too late already?
Indeed, after an exceptional violent assault, the leader of the paramilitary branch of the Zone, declares its independence and the creation of a new state: Islanova.

- A fast-paced thriller with many different reading levels: reflection on family, society, freedom, fighting for a fair cause with violent means, the increasing scarcity of water resources, radical ecology...
- Don't get too attached to the main characters, you may be disappointed!
