The Dream of a Madman

Nadine Monfils

Dreams drive tears away.

This is a fiction inspired by Ferdinand Cheval, the "genius madman" who built the Ideal Palace in Hauterives in the DrĂ´me Department. He has just lost his 15 years old daughter Alice. During his tours as a postman, he befriended a painter who hadn't seen his for a very long time. These two men are brought together by pain. When the painter dies, his daughter finally writes to him. Too late! But Cheval answers her as if he were her father. Because dreaming is still the only thing that can save humans.

- A tribute to freedom, poetry, art and faith in what is beyond us.

Nadine Monfils is a Belgian from Montmartre. Author of more than seventy novels, she has received the Cognac Crime Festival Award, the Saint-Maur en poche Award and the Griffe Noire Award for her whole work.
